In class I have been taught about the 180 degree rule. The 180 degree rule simply means if a character is first filmed on the right side of the camera they must continue to filmed on the right side of the camera. This helps keep the realism for the audience and allows them to connect and stay with the story. It’s a basic continuity principle. If the character appears on the other side of the camera it may look out of place and there fore the scene will seem pointless, or unrealistic.
